According to Sinochem New Network, on February 28, 2021, the 10×1000 m3/h hydrogen production facility via water electrolysis, part of the solar electrolysis for hydrogen production and energy storage research and demonstration project carried out by the Northwest Branch of Sinochem 11th Construction Company for Ningxia Baofeng Energy Group Co., Ltd., was put into operation. The project commenced in April 2020. The project uses the most advanced domestic high-efficiency alkaline electrolyzers, each with a production capacity of 1,000 cubic meters per hour. It is expected to produce 160 million cubic meters of hydrogen per year, with 80 million cubic meters of oxygen as a by-product. It can reduce coal consumption by 254,000 tons per year and carbon dioxide emissions by 445,000 tons per year. The hydrogen produced by Baofeng Energy’s integrated solar-powered water electrolysis hydrogen production project will, on the one hand, be combined with the company’s existing coal chemical facilities; part of this hydrogen will be supplied directly to the methanol production units, thereby helping to reduce costs and improve efficiency while also facilitating energy savings and emission reduction. On the other hand, by integrating the urban hydrogen-powered demonstration bus lines in Yinchuan, the hydrogen-powered commuter buses and new-energy buses in the Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base, as well as corporate hydrogen-powered commuter buses, hydrogen-powered heavy trucks, and hydrogen-powered buses, it is possible to achieve the application of \"green hydrogen\" that integrates all aspects of the process: solar-powered hydrogen production and storage, the production of high-end chemical materials through integration with modern coal chemical processes, hydrogen storage and transportation, and the utilization of hydrogen energy.
