On March 31, the internal components of the radiation waste boiler, which are the core elements of the \"Huayi Gasifier\" and represent the world’s largest dry coal powder radiation waste boiler system, were manufactured at Dongfang Boiler and then shipped. The Huayi gasification furnace features an extremely complex process, high manufacturing difficulties, and a tight production schedule. The timely completion and shipment of the key components this time mark a breakthrough for Dongfang Boiler in the manufacturing of this type of gasification furnace; it creates the conditions necessary for the completion of the entire equipment, adding a significant contribution to Dongfang Boiler’s performance in the gasification furnace market. The weight of each unit of the Huayi gasifier is 1,206 tons, with a total length of over 51 meters; it can process 3,200 tons of coal per day. It is currently the largest dry pulverized coal radiation waste boiler-type gasifier in the world. The internal components of this gasification furnace were technically designed by the 711th Research Institute of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, with detailed design work carried out by Dongguo. It features an integrated design that combines multiple technologies, and holds independent domestic intellectual property rights. Since taking on the Huayi gasifier project, various departments at Dongfang Boiler have worked closely together, adhering to high standards and strict requirements, and have successfully completed numerous evaluations of specialized welding processes with high technical complexity, as well as carrying out technical research on the use of new materials. During the production process, the manufacturing management department formulates detailed specialized production plans based on the actual circumstances, to ensure that various stages of production in the workshops are carried out in an orderly manner. Regular weekly meetings are held with relevant departments to coordinate and resolve various issues that arise during production, and 24/7 equipment support services are provided to guarantee smooth production. To overcome the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the manufacturing workshops worked overtime to accelerate progress, surmount difficulties, and successfully complete the manufacturing tasks for each process. The core internal components of the Huayi gasifier are manufactured in two sections: the gasification chamber section and the radiant waste heat boiler section. The manufacturing of radiation waste boiler sections is difficult, requires high-grade materials, imposes strict requirements on weld joint alignment, and there is no space for welding. Faced with these challenges, the water wall workshop worked closely with relevant departments to pool their ideas. The welding of the most difficult-to-weld part, namely the roof of the old boiler, was carried out in four stages, with each section manufactured separately before being assembled together and connected to the radiation shield. Through hard work and perseverance in overcoming difficulties, all 3,515 radiation waste boiler joint welds and 3,025 gasifier joint welds were successfully completed, with the first-time inspection pass rate for these welds exceeding 95%. The successful shipment of the radiation waste pot section for the internal components of the Huayi gasifier marks the near completion of the manufacturing of this gasifier’s components, as it is about to enter the critical phase of final assembly. The successful production of this project once again demonstrates Dongfang Boiler’s manufacturing capabilities and quality control skills in the field of large-scale coal chemical equipment. It has provided valuable experience for Dongfang Boiler to produce gasifier products on a large scale, laying a solid foundation for such operations.
