On June 30, 2026, the completion ceremony for Phase 1 and the commencement ceremony for Phase 2 of the demonstration project undertaken by Gansu Zhihui Green New Energy Co., Ltd., which aims at the clean and efficient utilization of 10 million tons per year of low-grade coal through sorting and quality differentiation, as well as the integration of this process with new energy sources, were held in grand style at the Liugou Coal Chemical Industry Park in Guazhou County, Jiuquan City. It is understood that this project is the first integrated demonstration project in Gansu Province for the clean and efficient utilization of low-grade coal across the entire value chain. It was invested in and constructed by Gansu Zhihui Green New Energy Co., Ltd. With a total investment of 24 billion yuan, it has been listed as one of Gansu Province’s key investment projects for 2023, as well as a major construction project for the years 2024, 2025, and 2026. The project is constructed in two phases: Phase 1 mainly involves the construction of a 3 million tons per year lump coal pyrolysis unit, 2×100 MW power generation and comprehensive utilization units for pyrolysis exhaust gases, supporting by-product recovery facilities, as well as sewage treatment and related auxiliary production facilities ; The second phase includes the construction of a 4 million tons per year peat coal pyrolysis unit and a 600,000 tons per year coal tar upgrading unit, among others. On September 25, 2023, the project officially commenced construction in the Liugou Coal Chemical Industry Park in Guazhou County, Gansu Province. In December 2024, the pyrolysis unit of Phase 1 was successfully completed, and the installation of the main structures was finished. At the beginning of 2025, the project entered the trial production phase and progressed smoothly. Among them, the 3 million tons per year low-grade coal pyrolysis unit in Phase 1, along with the sewage treatment facilities and related auxiliary production systems, will be completed and put into trial operation by the end of 2025; the 2×100 MW power generation facility utilizing pyrolysis exhaust gases will be completed and put into trial operation in July 2026. The simultaneous commencement of Phase 1 and Phase 2 by CCCC indicates that the project construction has entered a new stage. According to the available information, Gansu Zhihui Green New Energy Co., Ltd. was established on July 7, 2022, with its registered address located in Liugou Coal Chemical Industry Park, Guazhou County, Jiuquan City, Gansu Province. The company’s registered capital is 350 million yuan. The company is dedicated to the clean and efficient utilization of coal on a graded and quality-based basis in the field of modern coal chemical industry, as well as the research, development, and production of new energy products. It makes full use of the regional advantages in coal resources and wind and solar energy resources, and relies on its technical expertise in the clean and efficient utilization of low-grade coal to establish a circular economy industrial chain involving coal, electricity, oil, gas, and chemicals, while also fostering coordinated development with the new energy industry.
