On June 11, all four gasifiers in the first batch of Shenhua Ningmei Group’s 4 million tons per year coal indirect liquefaction demonstration project were successfully fed with coal. On June 13, the first and second hydrogenation refining lines of the synthetic oil plant produced qualified mixed diesel, completing the entire process. Thus, during the 2020 major maintenance of the facilities at the coal-to-oil branch, the first product line was successfully operationalized. All the main process units in the first batch were successfully commissioned at once. It is reported that this major maintenance campaign involved 65 external contractors, with a total of over 12,000 people working simultaneously. As a result, the maintenance of 60 key units was completed, along with routine inspections of 876 pressure vessels and 17,645 pressure pipelines. A total of 740 clamps have been removed, and 6 critical maintenance projects have been completed successfully. This major maintenance campaign resolved issues such as the detachment of the diaphragms in the propylene compressors, wear of the diaphragms in the FTO cycle compressors, and insufficient output from the turbines in the third series of propylene compressor units. Next, the coal-to-oil division will proceed with the commissioning of various units in batches, in accordance with a comprehensive commissioning plan, striving to achieve high-load and long-duration operation of all units, so as to secure overall success in maintaining and increasing production levels as well as boosting profits and efficiency. Shenhua Ningmei Group’s 4 million tons per year coal indirect liquefaction demonstration project is a key coal deep-processing demonstration project to be developed during the 12th Five-Year Plan period. The construction of this project was fully completed on December 21, 2016. On December 21, 2016, the entire process for Product Line A was operationalized, enabling the production of qualified oil products. As of August 2019, a total of 2.6094 million tons of petrochemical products and 517,400 tons of methanol had been produced, essentially achieving the goal of completing half of the tasks by halfway through the period. Of this, 566,000 tons were vehicle diesel, 571,500 tons were chemical products, 788,000 tons were naphtha, and 166,700 tons were LPG. Based on the product range designed for the coal-to-oil project, this project has, through the optimization of the production process, developed 7 types of products including crude paraffin oil, light paraffin oil, liquid paraffin, and FTO heavy wax. Chemical products account for over 50% of the total output, generating cumulative revenue and benefits of 1.2 billion yuan. It alleviated the sales pressure to some extent. Today, using the existing coal-to-oil chemical products and chemicals as raw materials, Ningxia Coal Coal-to-Oil Branch further extends its industrial chain by developing high-end products such as liquid paraffin, high-carbon alcohols, premium lubricants, PAO, and oilfield flooding agents.
