You Jiaqiang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Director, and General Manager of Shandong Energy Group Xinjiang Energy Chemical Company, presented information regarding Xinjiang Energy Chemical Company and its coal-to-olefins project at the meeting. The project with an annual production capacity of 800,000 tons of coal-to-olefins products is a key project that Shandong Energy has planned to invest in Xinjiang; it constitutes an important part of Xinjiang Energy Chemical Company’s Jundong coal chemical integration project and will serve as a crucial support for its future development. The two parties have a long history of cooperation and a deep friendship. In the upcoming overall design work, as the project owner, Xinjiang Energy Chemical Company will go all out to provide various materials in a timely and accurate manner, and ensure that all necessary support is in place. At the meeting, Gao Zhihui, the design manager of Tianchen Engineering Company, presented the report on the commencement of the overall design, and the two parties confirmed aspects such as the design basis and the unified regulations for the overall design. Both parties discussed the specific details of the project’s overall design separately. Xinjiang Shanneng Chemical Co., Ltd. has invested 19.8 billion yuan in the 800,000-ton/year coal-to-olefins project in Wucaiwan, Zhundong. The construction site is located on the west side of Shenqi Road, at the entrance of Open-pit Mine No. 4 in the Huoshao Mountain Industrial Park, within the Wucaiwan mining area of the Zhundong Economic and Technological Development Zone in Xinjiang. The project uses coal from the Wucailan No. 4 open-pit mine as raw material, and produces MTo-grade methanol (an intermediate product) through coal gasification under pressure, shift reaction and heat recovery, low-temperature methanol washing, and methanol synthesis; this MTo-grade methanol is then processed via MTo separation and olefin separation to obtain polymer-grade ethylene and polymer-grade propylene monomers; ethylene is polymerized to produce polyethylene products, while propylene is polymerized to produce polypropylene products. The main process units of the project include an air separation unit, a gasification unit, a purification unit, a methanol unit, a sulfur recovery unit, an MTo unit (including butane recycle), an olefin separation unit, a polyethylene plant, and a polypropylene plant. The project is integrated with and constructed simultaneously with the Colorful Bay No. 4 open-pit mine. Tianchen Engineering Company is responsible for the overall design of this project.
