The first phase of Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum Anyuan Chemical Co., Ltd.’s 1 million tons per year coal tar hydrogenation project has completed its feed-in trial run successfully. This project adopted KBR’s “VCC suspended-bed hydrogenation technology” from the United States. Since there was no existing commercial project to draw lessons from regarding this process, as the world’s first full-range high-temperature, high-pressure suspended-bed hydrogenation system, numerous technical, engineering, and equipment-related challenges were overcome during the stages of engineering design, plant construction, individual unit testing, and overall system commissioning. Operations began on June 19, 2018, at 5 a.m., and the entire process was successfully operationalized; the product quality met the required standards, with a conversion rate of raw oil exceeding 98%. This project yielded key technological insights related to VCC suspended-bed hydrocarbonization of coal tar, as well as valuable operational experience, thereby opening up a new pathway for heavy oil hydrogenation. The successful trial operation of this project helps to expand the scale of operations, enhances the company’s competitiveness, and improves its financial performance, laying a solid foundation for the sustainable development of the company.
Congratulations! Looking forward to hearing good news about long-term operation
Congratulations! This technology is widely applied in areas such as oil-coal co-processing, hydrogenation of heavy and low-quality oils, hydrogenation of coal tar, and direct coal liquefaction. It features high conversion rates, great operational flexibility, a wide range of raw material options, advanced heat recovery techniques, and high product quality, making it highly promising for further development!
As someone who has experienced the successful commissioning of kerosene co-refining and coal tar suspended-bed hydrogenation processes, Brother has such a thorough understanding of the technical characteristics of these processes, the operational experience involved, and the future prospects for them; you must be an expert in this field, a leader in the industry. Everyone can consult him about anything
