On September 8th, the groundbreaking ceremony for Inner Mongolia Meijin New Energy Co., Ltd.’s 5 million tons per year coking and comprehensive utilization of coke oven gas project, along with the related hydrogen energy facilities, was held in the industrial park of Wulat Qianqi County, Bayannur City. The hydrogen production project associated with Inner Mongolia Meijin New Energy Co., Ltd.’s 5-million-ton coking and comprehensive utilization of coke oven gas facility involves the construction of a 5-million-ton/year coal washing plant, a 5-million-ton/year coking unit (with carbonization chambers 6.25 meters high and 4 sets of 2×60-hole coke ovens), 4 dry quenching systems along with associated waste heat power generation units, a 600,000-ton/year methanol plant, a 150,000-ton/year liquid ammonia plant, a 40 million cubic meters/year hydrogen production plant, a 270,000-ton/year nitric acid plant, a 300,000-ton/year nitrogenous phosphate fertilizer plant, a 200,000-ton/year calcium nitrate plant, a 100,000-ton/year ammonium nitrite sulfate plant, as well as various supporting infrastructure and facilities. On July 3, 2020, Meijin Energy Group Co., Ltd. signed a cooperation framework agreement with Bayannur City to establish Inner Mongolia Meijin New Energy Co., Ltd., which would build a hydrogen energy project involving 5 million tons of coking capacity and comprehensive utilization of coke oven gas in the Wulat Qianqi Industrial Park. The total investment for this project is 9.736 billion yuan, with a land area of 4,200 mu. The coking section is scheduled to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2022, while the associated chemical production projects will be established gradually over the course of three years. On September 3, a partnership agreement was signed between Inner Mongolia Meijin New Energy Co., Ltd. and Saiding Engineering Co., Ltd. for the hydrogen energy project related to the 5 million tons per year coking operation and the comprehensive utilization of coke oven gas.
