On October 26, the extrusion granulator, which is the key equipment in the product post-treatment system of the 400,000-ton/year polypropylene unit (hereinafter referred to as the “PP3 unit”) as part of Yueneng Chemical’s Phase I completion project, was successfully commissioned after a single trial run. It produced qualified granules of the EPS30R grade, marking the achievement of full operational capability for the product post-treatment system of the PP3 unit. It is reported that the extrusion granulator has a design capacity of 65 tons per hour, with an annual operating time of 8,000 hours; it features a in-line layout, and its main motor has a power of 15,000 kilowatts and is of direct-start type. At present, the polymerization powder system has completed the purging, airtightness testing, and gas displacement of its process system; the instrument interlocks have also been calibrated. The joint trial operation of various unit equipment and systems with feed material has entered the large-scale circulation phase. The PP3 unit utilizes Basell’s technology, which employs large-loop pipes for multi-zone cyclic polymerization; this technology is less commonly used in China. The multi-zone reactor is the key equipment of this system; it enables multi-zone cyclic polymerization of process gas and catalyst within the polymerization reactor, thereby producing a wide range of polypropylene homopolymers, random copolymers, and impact-resistant copolymers in the form of polypropylene pellets – totaling 183 different product grades. Next, the project team will focus on completing all tasks related to the entire process of the polymerization reaction system, ensuring that the entire installation is fully operational and that all project completion tasks are carried out on time and to the required standard.
