To effectively address the issue of coal slag scattering from the slag skimming machines and to improve the level of 6S management on site, the Kaiyue Coal Chemical Power Workshop recently carried out modifications to these machines. It is understood that the slag scooper is a slag discharge device located at the bottom of the boiler; since its slag hopper remains open at all times, coal slag often spills out, which directly increases the workload for the operators on site. To effectively address this issue, the technicians in the workshop remained at the production site, continuously observing and analyzing the time differences in the loading process of the slag removal equipment based on the actual operation of the system. They also strengthened communication and exchanges with other units to learn from their practices, and eventually found a solution. By using two channel steels as tracks for the sliding door, and welding the sliding door to the slag discharge opening, an electro-hydraulic actuator was employed to close the sliding door in real time, thus solving this problem in a convenient and effective manner. To date, the renovation project has been operating safely and stably for 43 days, achieving good results.
