Changhong High-Tech’s 120,000-ton PBAT production facility is set to go into operation. Author/Source: Coal Chemical Industry Information Network. Date: March 10, 2022. Clicks: 6. On March 9, Changhong High-Tech announced that the first phase of its 600,000-ton/year fully biodegradable thermoplastic industrial park project, which involves the flexible production of PBAT/PBS/PBT, is now ready for operation with its 120,000-ton/year production facilities in place; production will be initiated based on market conditions. Currently, the market for biodegradable plastics is relatively sluggish. Does Changhong High-Tech’s release of this announcement indicate that it is about to start producing PBAT? However, another PBAT polymerization manufacturer in East China stopped PBAT production at the end of February. In fact, the commissioning ceremony for Changhong High-Tech’s 120,000-ton PBAT production facility was held on September 11, but due to the high prices of the raw material BDO, it was decided to switch to producing PBT, resulting in a delay in the operation of the PBAT facility. Changhong High-Tech stated that it is highly optimistic about the future development of the biodegradable plastics industry, and will continue to push forward with the construction of the project aimed at producing 600,000 tons of PBAT per year, thereby putting the concept of green development into practice through concrete actions.
