The main function of the 520,000-ton urea production line’s air compressors is to supply air for the compression and dehydrogenation processes, while also creating a passivation layer on the inner walls of high-pressure equipment to effectively prevent corrosion. However, after more than a decade of operation, the two existing passivation air fans have presented a series of problems, including high maintenance and operating costs, long maintenance cycles, and high power consumption. As a result, this issue has also been included among the company’s annual key energy-saving improvement projects. In response to this situation, the Mechanical Power Department took proactive action; by contacting specialized manufacturers and engaging in exchanges with various experts, it discovered a new industry technology – air-suspended fans – that could meet the requirements of on-site use. On March 26, the equipment equipped with this new technology was put into operation after being tuned up. To date, it has been operating stably for over 60 days in a row. The original equipment requires an external major repair once a year, and the air filter and water filter need to be replaced after 3 months of operation. The cost of replacing just the filters is around 4,000 yuan each time; since 2017, the total cost of these major repairs has been approximately 165,000 yuan. With its rotating components suspended in air, the new equipment has a significantly extended continuous operation time; its friction coefficient is extremely low, resulting in very low power consumption. Even when standing near the machine, the operating noise is hardly perceptible, **which reduces the occupational hazards at the production site. Therefore, it requires simple maintenance, has low costs, saves energy and reduces noise, with outstanding overall performance of the new equipment. Considering the savings in maintenance costs and electricity expenses, the cost can be recouped within the same year, with a slight profit as well – it’s really a good deal!\" ”
