Author/Source: Gasification World Date: 2022-11-18 Clicks: 19 Recently, the ITCC renovation project for methanol synthesis gas production at Yunnan Dawa Coking Co., Ltd., carried out by Beijing Kangjisen Automation Technology Co., Ltd., was completed. The original unit control for the methanol synthesis cycle compressor at Yunnan Dawa Coking Co., Ltd. relies on a separate PLC+505+3500 system along with an overspeed protection system for operation. The control system of this unit has been in operation for 15 years and needs to be upgraded. Under the tight schedule for on-site renovation, Jingkang Jisen Automation Technology Co., Ltd. replaced the original distributed control system with Jisen’s integrated control system. The integrated control system in this project incorporates functions such as SIL3 interlock protection, automatic startup and speed control of the turbine, anti-surge automatic control, PID automatic control, shafting monitoring protection, and overspeed protection. With the switch to the new system, one-click automatic startup of the turbine has been achieved; anti-surge control can automatically prevent the unit from shutting down in case of fluctuations in upstream operating conditions. The level of the hot well fluid, as well as other PID controls, are also under automatic regulation, ensuring stable operation. The renovation project was successful on the first attempt, with surge control being automated, **which improved the reliability and maintainability of the system’s operation. Yunnan Dawa Coking Co., Ltd. currently has four 5.5m ramming side-loading coke ovens, totaling 4×55 chambers, with an annual production capacity of 2 million tons of coke. Ovens No. 1 and No. 2 operate under System A, while Ovens No. 3 and No. 4 operate under System B. Supporting facilities include a gas purification unit (for chemical processing), with an annual treatment capacity of approximately 110,000 m3/h; two biochemical wastewater treatment units with a capacity of 75 m3/h each; a facility for converting 200,000 tons per year of coke oven gas into methanol, along with associated methanol storage areas.
