Separation of α-olefins from coal-to-oil process

Currently, there are some facilities in China’s coal-to-oil plants that have been built to separate and extract α-olefins from coal-derived oil, but their number is relatively small. Some of these technologies come from abroad, such as the research conducted at the University of Stuttgart, while others have been developed independently by domestic companies. Regarding the detailed process flow diagrams, as there may be differences between various installations, the specific processes can also vary. Generally speaking, however, the process route for extracting α-olefins from coal-to-oil conversion is roughly coal-to-oil conversion → steam reforming reaction → separation and extraction of α-olefins.
