The Electrical and Instrumentation Center of Anqing Petrochemical successfully carried out the software upgrade for the PLC control system used in the coal feeding process in the gasification unit. At 11:20 on December 15, on the ninth-floor platform of Anqing Petrochemical’s gasification unit, pressing the start button on the on-site control cabinet for the spiral coal feeder caused the PLC control system responsible for coal feeding to start up properly. The self-check was successful, and the indicators for input and output circuits were correct; The actuators of the on-site baffles operated correctly, and the opening degree of the baffles was normal. The start and stop of the six motors were in line with the control provided by the PLC program, indicating that the software upgrade of the PLC control system for coal splitting in the gasification process was a complete success. Subsequently, tests will be carried out in conjunction with the equipment and the production process, in accordance with the schedule for starting up the gasification process. In coal gasification, the original spiral coal distribution system used PLC control to regulate the distribution of coal powder from series A and B for grinding. As part of the expansion of the coal gasification facility, it became necessary to add a new grinding unit of series C; as a result, the actuators used for controlling the coal distribution valves in series A and B were also replaced. The existing PLC can no longer meet the production requirements; therefore, it is necessary to add electrical control points for the Coal Grinding C series at the hardware level. At the same time, the internal programs of the existing PLC need to be optimized and upgraded so that coal powder can be allocated to two out of the A, B, and C series according to production needs. The coal distribution baffle actuator can be regarded as the \"throat\" of the gasification unit; it is used to control the delivery of coal powder in order to adjust the production load of the three series. Its proper operation is directly related to the stable operation of the unit. The Chemical and Electrical Division of the Electrical and Instrumentation Center responded proactively to the changes in the existing processes, made appropriate arrangements, coordinated with the process equipment, and carefully identified the electrical control points that needed to be added. Keep track of the installation progress of new equipment in a timely manner, and develop plans for upgrading the electrical control system in advance. After six motors and three sets of electric baffle actuators were installed on site, the Electrical and Instrumentation Center immediately assembled its core team to start work on December 10. The tasks included the prefabrication and installation of cable trays, the laying of main control cables, the adjustment of the baffle actuators’ opening angles, as well as the reprogramming and testing of the PLC software. At 9:20 a.m. on December 12, the PLC had its program rewritten and successfully downloaded, after which one-by-one individual debugging was carried out. This project was upgraded successfully, resolving the issue of coal powder distribution after changing from two to three coal grinding series, and laying a solid foundation for the successful operation of the three-series coal gasification system.
