On that day, the Suzhou branch of China Chemical Equipment Technology Co., Ltd. won the bid for the procurement of temperature-controlled shift reactors for the energy-saving technology research project related to the ammonia synthesis unit at Yunnan Tianan Chemical Co., Ltd. It will supply 1 set of such temperature-controlled shift reactors as key equipment for this research project. This project is fully in line with the policy orientation of green and low-carbon development, playing a key role in environmental protection, emission reduction, and the achievement of carbon neutrality goals. Synthetic ammonia is a sector within the coal chemical industry with a relatively high carbon emission intensity. By improving energy efficiency, such projects reduce the greenhouse gas emissions associated with the use of coal as raw material. At the same time, the closed-loop utilization of condensate helps to minimize the environmental risks posed by the discharge of production wastewater, thereby reducing the overall amount of pollutants emitted during plant operation. This not only assists companies in complying with increasingly stringent environmental regulations and avoiding related policy risks, but also provides a practical approach for them to achieve the goals of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, thus facilitating their transition toward a greener and lower-carbon future. The technical achievements and practical experience of this project serve as an important model for driving technological upgrades in China’s coal chemical industry. Addressing common industry challenges related to the supporting systems of Shell’s dry pulverized coal pressurized gasification process, this project has developed replicable and scalable processes, equipment, and optimization solutions. It has resolved numerous technical bottlenecks associated with similar facilities, providing a model and reference for energy-saving retrofits of related installations. Furthermore, it has facilitated technological advancements and energy conservation/carbon reduction efforts in the shift reaction process within the coal chemical industry.
