On November 15, Fushan County in Linfen City, Shanxi Province, held a signing ceremony for the implementation of the upgrading project for the coking operation at Linfen Wansinda Co., Ltd. as well as the new energy and hydrogen energy development projects. This signing is a concrete measure to thoroughly implement the spirit of the 6th Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Party, as well as the spirit of the provincial and municipal party congresses; it also represents a proactive response to the strategic plan put forward by the municipal party committee and municipal authorities regarding the restructuring of the coking industry by moving it out of urban areas into industrial parks, and out of riverine regions into valley areas. The total investment in the project is 3.9 billion yuan, allocated respectively to the upgrade project for a coking plant with an annual production capacity of 1.68 million tons and the new energy hydrogen project; upon completion, the annual profit and tax revenue is expected to reach 300 million yuan. The main construction components of the coking upgrading project include JNDX3-6.78 ramming coke ovens with 63+64 carbonization chambers and a height of 6.78 m, along with supporting facilities such as a coal preparation system, chemical product recovery systems, gas purification units, dry quenching equipment, environmental protection facilities for flue gas desulfurization and denitrification, and other auxiliary facilities. Coke oven gas is used to produce 200,000 tons per year of methanol at the existing Shanxi Jiantao Wansinda Chemical Co., Ltd., while the methanol off-gases are utilized for the production of 60,000 tons per year of synthetic ammonia at the existing Shanxi Longzhi Nengyuan Chemical Co., Ltd. After the implementation of the projects under this agreement, the amount of pollutant emissions that can be reduced compared to before the renovation is as follows: particulate matter by 52.09 t/a, a reduction of 43.9% ; Sulfur dioxide: 137.50 t/a, a 41.9% reduction ; Nitrogen oxides: 171.69 t/a, with a reduction of 40.5%. Centered on the utilization of new energy, this project integrates various elements from the upstream and downstream sectors such as renewable energy, hydrogen fuel cells, energy storage, and green hydrogen production, with the aim of establishing a demonstration base for low-carbon industries. It seeks to explore pathways tailored to Linfen’s characteristics for industrial upgrading and carbon neutrality, holding significant strategic importance and a driving effect on the economic development of Fushan.
