On January 14, Fang Yitian, director of the Shanxi Institute of Coal Chemistry under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, led a delegation to Lu’an Chemical Group to conduct research and discussions on further deepening cooperation and promoting the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. Chen Xuzhong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Lu’an Group, and Ma Junxiang, General Manager, attended the exchange event. At the symposium, Fang Yitian said that as an important part of the **strategic scientific and technological forces, the Shanxi Coal Chemistry Institute has long been committed to the development and application of technologies for the efficient and low-carbon utilization of coal, thereby contributing to the transformation and development of Shanxi Province. Over the years, the research institute has maintained an efficient and high-quality cooperative relationship with Lu’an Group, achieving a series of important results. It is hoped that this exchange will serve as an opportunity for the two sides to further deepen their cooperation. Focusing on establishing innovation consortia and jointly applying for **major projects for 2030, they will actively explore ways in which artificial intelligence can be utilized to advance the development of the coal chemical industry, carry out demonstrations of low-carbon technologies and solid waste disposal methods, and upgrade the model of cooperation from mere technical support to comprehensive solutions. This will contribute additional technological momentum to the high-quality development of Lu’an Group during its 15th Five-Year Plan period. Chen Xuzhong pointed out that as a key enterprise in Shanxi Province’s coal chemical industry, Lu’an Group has always adhered to innovation-driven development, enhancing its core competitiveness by promoting the integration of new energy sources with traditional chemical manufacturing and by expanding its sophisticated industrial chains. He hopes that both sides will use this exchange as a new starting point to facilitate the application and transformation of more scientific and technological achievements from the Shanxi Coal Chemistry Institute in Lu’an, thereby achieving a win-win situation for technological innovation and industrial development. Relevant management departments from the Shanxi Coal Chemistry Research Institute and members of the research team participated in the inspection tour. They visited the clean energy laboratory of Lu’an Group’s Coal-based Clean Energy Company, as well as the experimental facilities for desulfurization of filter cakes on a scale of 10,000 tons per year and the facilities for olefin separation. Discussions were held on technologies such as improving the quality of Fischer-Tropsch synthesis products and their value-added utilization, CCUS, and solid waste disposal.
