Xintian Coal Chemical: A new record for the simultaneous operation of 19 gasification units Author/Source: Zhejiang Energy Xintian Coal Chemical Date: 2020-03-17 Clicks: 76 At 11:30 on March 13, the third gasification unit in Framework A of Xintian Coal Chemical’s gasification workshop was successfully connected to the grid, marking the simultaneous operation of 19 coal pulverization pressurized gasification units by this company. This exceeds the previous record of 18 units operating at the same time; it is the first time such a scenario has occurred, thus setting a new operational record. The operation of the gasifier at Xintian Coal Chemical Industry has entered a new phase. Xintian Coal Chemical Industry is equipped with a total of 22 gasification furnaces: 7 in Framework A, 8 in Framework B, and 7 in Framework C. These furnaces are responsible for converting raw coal into crude coal gas, with each furnace having a designed production capacity of 43,024 cubic meters of crude coal gas per hour. Recently, in the face of the company’s demanding production schedule, the gasification workshop took early action to make plans and preparations. It called on its employees to act as guardians against the pandemic, to work together as one team to build a strong collective force to combat the epidemic, thereby creating a solid barrier for the company’s pandemic prevention efforts ; On the one hand, it calls on those on duty to stick to their posts and go all out to work together to ensure the safe and stable operation of the gasifier. Faced with the challenge of a shortage of staff during the pandemic, the workshop changed its operating schedule and staffing arrangement from four shifts per day to three shifts per day. The workshop managers worked together in coordination, continuously monitoring the situation to ensure that the gasification furnace operated stably at full capacity. The gasifier of Xintian Coal Chemical is designed with 2 in operation and 2 as backups. After the operation of 19 gasification units, the company’s gasification workshop enhanced its central monitoring, coal lock surveillance, and inspection efforts. It required operators to improve the quality of their monitoring, analyze the operating parameters of the gasification units in a timely manner, increase the frequency of inspections of the ash levels in these units, and make adjustments promptly in response to any changes in their operating conditions, thereby ensuring that the gasification units operated safely and stably. All staff should further intensify the efforts to identify potential hazards in the gasification furnace, continuously monitor key areas such as the coal lock flanges and manhole flanges, report any issues found promptly for handling, and eliminate safety hazards at an early stage. On March 6, 2017, Xintian Coal Chemical successfully ignited its first gasifier in one attempt; in June of the same year, the B series was put into operation for testing, with a short testing period and high efficiency, setting the best record in the history of coal pulverization pressurized gasification processes. At this critical moment in the fight against the pandemic, the people at Xintianren have overcome difficulties by operating 19 gasification units simultaneously, setting a new record that was hard to achieve. Currently, the 19 gasifiers at Xintian Coal Chemical Industry have been operating simultaneously for 72 hours now, with stable performance and consistent gas production; the instantaneous natural gas output reaches 260,000 cubic meters per hour. The simultaneous operation of these 19 gasification units has provided a boost to the orderly resumption of production and operations amid the pandemic, and it has also laid a solid foundation for the company to achieve its annual production targets. At this new starting point, Xintianren will overcome difficulties with all its efforts, striving with even greater determination at the foot of the Tianshan Mountains.
