From May 9th to 10th, a review meeting for the basic design of the pyrolysis phase of Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical’s demonstration project for clean and efficient conversion of 15 million tons per year of coal by grade was held in Xi’an. The meeting was organized by the Infrastructure Department of Shaanxi Coal Group, and 18 experts from nine fields including process, equipment, safety, and cost estimation were invited to review the preliminary design for the pyrolysis startup project. Shang Jianxuan, Deputy General Manager of Shaanxi Coal Group, leaders from various departments of the group such as the Infrastructure Department, Chemicals Division, Strategic Planning Committee, Finance and Assets Department, Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Department, and Science and Technology Development Department, Zhang Xiaojun, General Manager of Yulin Chemicals under Shaanxi Coal Group, staff from departments including the Production Technology Management Department, the 1.2 million tons per year coal pyrolysis project department, the Control Department, the Planning and Finance Department, and the HSSE Management Department, as well as relevant personnel from Shengbang Technology Co., Ltd., attended the meeting. The meeting first heard a presentation on the foundation design plan from the unit responsible for its preparation, and then reviewed the foundation design documents in groups by specialty. After thorough evaluation, the expert panel unanimously agreed that the content and depth of the preliminary design basically meet the relevant requirements for such designs; upon further modification and refinement, it can serve as a foundation and basis for the detailed design of the project. At the same time, the head of the expert group put forward two suggestions: first, it is recommended to promptly improve the basic design documents in accordance with the expert group’s revisions ； Secondly, it is recommended to consult experts more often when making modifications to the basic design in order to refine it. Zhang Xiaojun, general manager of Yulin Chemical of Shaanxi Coal Group, delivered a speech. He said that he would urge the design institute to revise and improve the basic design in accordance with the experts’ suggestions, and at the same time hold a technical review meeting to analyze and identify the problems that existed in previous work, so as to resolve them promptly. Shang Jianxuan, deputy general manager of Shaanxi Coal Group, delivered a concluding speech. He emphasized that the pyrolysis pilot project is of great significance for the differentiated utilization of coal, and called for thorough foundation design to lay a solid basis for the subsequent detailed design work. Shaanxi Coal Group’s “Demonstration Project for the Utilization of Coal at Different Quality Levels to Produce New Chemical Materials” is located in the Qingshui Industrial Park in Yulin City. It covers an area of approximately 12 square kilometers, with an intended investment of 102.2 billion yuan. The project includes 27 processing units along with associated utility systems, and involves the production of 15 million tons per year of coal through medium-temperature pyrolysis, 5.6 million tons per year of methanol, 1.8 million tons per year of ethylene glycol, and 2 million tons per year of MTO products, as well as the production of downstream products.
