High-performance fluorine materials have evolved from traditional chemical additives to essential building blocks that underpin emerging industries such as electronic information and new energy, thanks to their unique properties of high stability, high insulation, high surface activity, and resistance to extreme environments. ”Qing Fengling, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that global competition in science and technology is becoming increasingly fierce, with ever-tighter technical barriers surrounding high-end products such as high-performance fluoropolymers, fluorine-containing fine chemicals, fluorine-containing electronic specialty gases, and special engineering plastics. In recent years, the scale of China’s fluorine chemical industry has continued to grow, and its industrial chain has expanded. A number of enterprises and research achievements with international competitiveness have emerged. However, there is still a gap compared to international advanced levels in areas such as fundamental theoretical research, original technology development, and the stable supply of high-end products; in some fields, there remains a risk of being constrained by limitations. Qing Fengling suggests that the high-performance fluorine materials industry should establish its foundation for innovation on \"fundamental tools for molecular design,\" further strengthen the integration of artificial intelligence with basic research, and seize a strategic advantage in the theory behind next-generation high-performance fluorine materials. The focus of innovation should be placed on achieving practical breakthroughs in \"critical materials\"; innovation in high-performance fluorine materials cannot remain limited to the laboratory stage, and it is necessary to establish a comprehensive capability covering \"structural design, synthesis routes, mass production, and testing under extreme conditions\". At the same time, the coordination mechanisms between upstream and downstream sectors are not yet fully developed; it is necessary for governments, industries, academia, and research institutions to work together to ensure that China’s fluorine material industry chain remains under domestic control. It is understood that through years of development, the fluorine chemical industry in Fushun has established an industrial chain that ranges from basic chemicals to fluorine chemicals, to new chemical materials, and finally to the application of fluorine-based products. The production capacity of fluoropolymers such as fluororubber and polytetrafluoroethylene resin ranks among the highest in the country, making it Sichuan’s largest industrial base for new fluorine chemical materials. At present, Fushun County is making every effort to build a **-level fluorine chemical new materials industry base, focusing on high-value areas such as advanced fluorine-containing chemicals and fluorine-based new material products, with the goal of achieving an industrial output value of over 30 billion yuan for the fluorine chemical industry by 2030.
