Our factory has a multi-stage pump, and the temperature of the bearing on the non-driving side often reaches 80 degrees. People on site say that this has been the case since the pump started operating. It is suspected that there was a problem with the installation, and the clearance was not adjusted properly. Are there any other reasons?
Haha, it’s probably because of the gap in the balance plate. You can first recheck the clearance of the bearing gland on the non-drive side. {Temporary solution}

The balance disc gap is too large, or the balance tube is blocked
If the product quality is fine, it’s most likely an installation issue – the parts that should be tight are loose, and those that should be loose are tight; the gaps aren’t proper
Bearing heat is caused by problems within the bearing itself; it can also arise when there is too tight a fit between the inner ring of the bearing and the shaft, or between the outer ring of the bearing and the bearing housing. In such cases, kinetic energy is converted into thermal energy, causing the bearing to expand. However, if the bearing housing is too tight, there is no room for expansion, which results in the bearing getting hotter as it continues to rotate. Another cause is the errors in processing and assembly, which result in the two bearing housings not being aligned. An overly tight preload on the bearings also reduces their clearance, and this is another reason for heat generation
Reduce the balance disc clearance by 0.02–0.05 and check during operation; is there water cooling? If there is no water cooling, there’s no need to remove the pump; with water cooling in place, it should be fine
The clearance of the balance disk is too large, which causes the thrust bearing to bear excessive axial force and leads to overheating of the thrust bearing; this issue can be resolved by adding a shim in front of the inner ring of the thrust bearing
