I would like to ask whether a diaphragm pump can still function when there is no air supply If there is water at a level of less than one meter at the inlet of the diaphragm pump, will water flow out from the outlet of the diaphragm pump?
It depends on the sealing performance of the diaphragm, as the diaphragm in a diaphragm pump is flexible. If the material is soft, leakage may occur when there is a high static head; this issue can be avoided by raising the outlet height appropriately, so that some liquid remains in the pipeline and maintains a certain static pressure at the outlet, thereby preventing leakage at the inlet.
Without a check valve, the inlet and outlet are connected; when the static pressure difference overcomes the resistance, water will flow out from the outlet.
