During my time studying at that chemical engineering school, there was a teacher who was like a shining star, guiding me through the long journey of exploring chemical engineering knowledge and learning how to conduct myself in life and in work; that teacher was my homeroom teacher, Teacher Zhang. On September 1, 2004, I set foot in Xi’an, the ancient capital that has been the seat of thirteen dynasties for the first time; happiness, wonder, and surprise were the true feelings of a child from the countryside. When I first met Teacher Zhang, he was wearing a black Sun Yat-sen suit; although he was past forty, his eyes still reflected a passion and dedication to chemical engineering knowledge. His hair had some gray strands, and he wore a kind smile on his face; the marks of time had not diminished his vitality, but rather added a touch of maturity and wisdom to him. During those three years together, the teacher not only taught me knowledge but also imparted to me experience in how to conduct oneself and handle matters. I too went from being a child from the countryside to becoming the class league secretary, class monitor, and member of the school student council, which provided me with a better foundation for entering society and finding a job after graduation. Now, many years after graduating and having left campus to take on a management role, I still keep in mind the teachings of my homeroom teacher, Mr. Zhang. He not only taught me professional knowledge and skills, but also showed me how to be a person and how to face difficulties and challenges. He was my guide on the path of chemistry, as well as my eternal mentor in life. This is my story with the teacher.
