With the issuance of various regulations regarding air pollution control, the waste gas treatment industry has become increasingly popular. But what is the actual level of technology for waste gas treatment in China? Is it really as advanced as some businesses claim? Is it really possible to recycle waste gas with multiple densities or similar melting points?
I heard that the technology related to activated carbon is quite mature, while other technologies in China don’t seem to be as developed
That means the technology available in the country is not yet mature, right?
In my opinion, although there are many techniques available for treating exhaust gases, such as activated carbon, carbon fiber, and ionic liquid absorption, not every technique is suitable for all operating conditions. Currently, most companies first conduct experiments and then develop treatment plans based on the results of those experiments.
But there is still a gap between experiments and reality. I heard in a group dedicated to waste gas treatment that some people are reluctant to use technologies such as photocatalysis and plasma in pharmaceutical factories, because if one of the components isn’t controlled properly, an explosion can occur.
Since the concentration of waste gas from pharmaceutical factories is generally high, an explosion is very likely if the concentration is not properly controlled. Foreign companies are better in terms of technology; for design work, foreign companies in China employ Chinese people.
Since it are Chinese people who do the design work in foreign companies, why is the technology still better from abroad?
Because foreign companies have established processes for design, rely on calculations for data handling, pay close attention to details, and follow standards in production. New technologies are basically invented abroad; domestically, people simply copy what they see there, without any core technology – such copying is merely a superficial imitation.
But if all the technology were imported, it would be too costly considering domestic market conditions
Waste gas treatment requires determining whether to adopt comprehensive treatment at the source or integrated treatment at the end point, based on the number, concentration, and properties of the waste gases. The specific methods to be used depend on the properties of the materials involved. Reputable companies in China are a viable option; it is also possible to develop solutions on one’s own!
Some gas companies these days promote the use of cryogenic methods for treating waste gases, by using liquid nitrogen to condense the chemicals in those gases and then reusing them. Theoretically, this technology should be very good, but the extent of its effectiveness still needs to be verified through practice.
