During operation, CENTUM VP synchronizes with the GPS clock via Ethernet; no special settings are required, and the system time on the engineer station and all operation stations is synchronized with it. However, after restarting following the maintenance power outage, it was found that the clocks on the engineer station and the operation station were not synchronized with GPS. I contacted the manufacturers of GPS synchronization hardware, but they did not provide any more valuable suggestions. All status indicators for the GPS clock’s hardware components show no abnormalities; attempts were made to locate the relevant network and clock synchronization settings on the engineer station, but these efforts were unsuccessful. Personally, I feel that the CENTUM VP does not have a clock connected for reading GPS. Question 1: Do the CENTUM VP engineer stations and various operation stations have dedicated clock servers? Must it be an engineer station? The network has a bus structure and should be hierarchical. Question 2: How to PING GPS from the engineer station? I don’t know the GPS IP; I want to find out if it’s a network issue. Question 3: If setting a problem for the engineer station itself, where should it be set and how?
If it is connected to BUS1, then it should be 192.168.domain number.254; If it is connected to BUS2, then it should be 192.168.128+domain number.254. In the VP software’s help documentation, searching for SNTP will provide more detailed information.

Thank you to budaoweng123 for the guidance; the issue on site has been resolved. The IP address of the GPS clock server was not set according to CENTUM VP specifications – it seems it wasn’t set from the beginning of the project, and no one paid attention to it. Hello! Having seen your reply to the original poster in this thread, I would like to ask a question regarding time synchronization settings as well. The system in my company is also Yokogawa Centum VP; there are 4 DCS domains in total, and multiple projects can be connected through L3 switches. The time server is connected to one of the interfaces of L3 switch BUS2 via an Ethernet cable. The IP address of the time server is set to 192.168.129.254 according to the address format of domain 1#, with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0; no gateway has been assigned. The control stations and operation stations in each domain set the address of BUS2 to 192.168.129.254 in the \"Domain Properties\" section, as described in the vp manual. However, this did not achieve time synchronization, and the various stations were unable to successfully read the time from the time server. In the control station’s “Station Status” – “Network Status”, SNTP is still shown as “OFF”.
