PPS plastic solid-liquid two-phase transport. The solid particles range in size from 2 microns to 1.5 mm, and the solid content varies considerably, reaching over 60% at times. The temperature is 150°C; the solvent is highly corrosive to rubber and plastics, but it has no corrosive effect on metals. The mechanical seal keeps leaking now; I was wondering if there are magnetic-driven rotor pumps available? Or to completely resolve the issue of seal leakage.
Media with a high solid content are not suitable for use with magnetic pumps, as the sliding bearings of these pumps require lubrication from the medium. Unless clean flushing oil is introduced into the medium, which is likely something you would find unacceptable, mechanical seals would not leak in this way. It is recommended to use the 41+52 configuration for mechanical seals, with a bellows seal. If a clean flushing medium can get in, sealing becomes much easier.

41 and 52 are both flushing protocols. 41: The outlet medium is cooled after centrifugation, and then the internal mechanical seal is flushed ; Option 52 is the pressure-free design, where the pressure in the outer sealing chamber is lower than that in the inner sealing chamber; the inner chamber contains white oil or another fluid, and a pumping ring is used for self-circulation to cool the sealing surfaces. The solid content is a bit high. The current sealing failure – is it due to leaks at the dynamic sealing points or at the static sealing points?

I’m not very familiar with the structure of pumps; considering installing a slag discharge ring at the front end of the mechanical seal might be an option.
