In our daily work, we carry out numerous safety training sessions with the aim of raising employees’ awareness of safety and conveying relevant safety information to them. However, it seems that the effectiveness of these training sessions is not sufficient. Therefore, we would like to invite everyone to discuss together how to make safety training more effective; constructive suggestions are welcome.
1. In a real exam, after the training, the assessment is conducted in a completely closed-book format; results are announced along with positive incentives. 2. Share real-world cases to enable employees to identify the potential safety hazards and solutions on their own, and then draw a more reasonable conclusion by incorporating their ideas. 3. If safety is not linked to performance, employees will not develop an awareness of it; after all, the purpose of going to work is to earn money, and to earn money safely, there must be assessments.
Safety training is only a tiny part of safety work. The main tasks should be equipment, facilities, protection, operational procedures, etc. It’s unlikely that safety work can be done well just through training.
Adopt Shell’s safety training model, establish physical safety training rooms, and ensure that everyone passes the training.
Safety training should still be linked to performance evaluations, and it should also be connected to the performance of managers
Tell a short safety story during each meeting, conduct safety training and tests once a month, award points for sharing accident cases from one’s own experience, and organize fire drills or power outage contingency plans on a monthly or quarterly basis
Safety training should be combined with real accident cases; it shouldn’t consist of dry lectures, and questions based on these cases should be used to reinforce understanding.
The effectiveness of training must be verified through assessments. To achieve satisfactory results, it is first necessary to establish an incentive mechanism that encourages employees to take the initiative to learn about safety and to prioritize safety; A post on the forum yesterday talked about a company issuing safety stocks, which can greatly enhance employees’ awareness of safety and motivate them to prioritize it. In such a situation, safety training is bound to be effective: lol
There is a test after each training session, and the score is linked to performance
Training is combined with assessments; for example, there are assessments every month regarding the proper use of respirators. Those who perform best are rewarded, while those who perform poorly face penalties. Since these are devices that save lives, strict oversight is necessary~~~~
