Our company is working on a turnkey project for a chemical plant, in which materials and fluids are transported through pipelines. A batch of these pipelines was delivered to the client’s site, and the supervisor and owner stated that the quality of these pipelines, in terms of surface quality and installation standards, was too poor. Since no specific requirements were specified for the instrumentation pipelines during the design phase, the suppliers manufactured and inspected them according to the standards applicable to ordinary delivery pipelines. I would like to ask if there are any national or industry standards specifically for instrumentation pipelines in similar pipeline systems. If so, please let me know. If not, are there any special requirements for instrumentation pipelines specified in the design? Thank you.
Is it a gauge TUBE, or PIPING for gauges? TUBES are generally made of stainless steel; PIPING can be galvanized carbon steel or stainless steel ; The two are not part of the same standard system.
Pipelines for instruments and those for process equipment are not the same thing at all, as mentioned on floor 5. Additionally, there are standard requirements for the pipelines of control systems and field instruments. The owner’s company likely entered the bid in order to win it; after securing the contract at a low price, they ignored the relevant standards and specifications and simply delivered the goods in a hasty manner. When working on such projects, experienced and responsible manufacturers will carry out design, procurement, and construction in accordance with standard requirements. If it does not meet the client’s requirements, or does not conform to standards and regulations, then one cannot blame them for being strict.
