The designation xSCH60: the ‘x’ here represents a multiplication sign, and it implies \"having\"; it is an alternative way of writing multiplication. For example, a seamless steel pipe designated as φ114XSch60 means that it is a seamless steel pipe with an outer diameter of 114 mm and a wall thickness of Sch60, which is 6.3 mm. Mine is a valve, and the design institute specified it as CL600(PN10.0)xSCH60 – it just seems strange to me:funk:
The valve is denoted as CL600(PN10.0)xSCH60, which indicates that it has flange connections; the flange belongs to the 600 Class, and the wall thickness is SCH60. Sometimes it’s normal to write it this way. Some are described in piping design reference books.
X denotes the dimension at both ends, meaning that the wall thickness at one end is SCH60. The specific thickness for SCH60 can be found in ASME B36.10M-2004

The wall thickness grade for such a connection is SCH60 – no issues at all! Furthermore, the design institute uses petrochemical standards;~~~ Personally, I suggest it’s better to use chemical industry standards when indicating pressure levels. That 600lb corresponds to 11.0 MPa, not 10.0 MPa~~~ It’s still okay since it’s a butt weld, but if it were a flange joint with an RJ surface, and the matching flanges purchased happened to be of European standard with a pressure rating of 10.0 MPa, some people would cry themselves unconscious in the bathroom~~~
If the valve is specified as CL600(PN10.0)xSCH60, it means that the valve features a buttwelded connection; its pressure rating is 600 Class, and the wall thickness of the buttwelded steel pipe corresponding to this rating is SCH60. Don’t mislead that person upstairs! ! There are many pipe numbers corresponding to SCH: 20#, 40#, 60#, 80#, 160# (XS, XXS). Here, the X represents a connection symbol and doesn’t have much meaning. . .
