The plant needs to transport liquid caustic (35%) to an external location; the distance between the two sites is about 50 km. It is planned to use buried pipelines for this transfer. Are there any regulations that prohibit the use of buried pipelines in such cases? Have you all come across similar cases? Thank you first!
The 35% liquid caustic pipeline needs heat tracing for insulation, right? How can heat tracing be implemented for pipelines buried underground? How will it be maintained in the future?

It is not recommended; underground heating is quite troublesome. Previously, it was necessary to collect and lay the pipes underground, and in the end it’s unclear how the owner carried out the installation
Once it leaks, it is not easy to detect, and it can also cause soil contamination; burial is not recommended. Generally, the circulating water pipelines between devices are relatively thick; it is difficult to support them above ground, so they are usually buried.
The cost of burying it 50KM underground or installing it on pipe racks is very high; moreover, transportation by tank trucks is also an option
The cost of installing overhead pipe racks is also high; if the demand can be met by tank trucks, then tank trucks are the better choice’
