It is mainly used in the new factory site under construction, where level gauges for storage tanks are the most common. The capacity ranges from 300L to 3000L, and the height is approximately 1 to 3 meters. The medium inside the storage tank consists of volatile organic substances such as organic solvents and organic acids, which may require explosion-proof measures. In the old factory area, submersible level gauges were mostly used; testing and calibration worked fine, but in actual operation there were issues with alarm functionality. This was likely due to the unreliability of domestic reed switches, so magnetic flip-type level gauges were installed on-site; these gauges only provided on-site display capabilities. Therefore, the new factory area prefers contactless solutions, as they offer intuitive and reliable readings as well as ease of maintenance. I’ve only been in this field for a month, having switched from static equipment to instrument control; I’m quite confused, so my questions and descriptions might be rather silly. The tank is too small; it depends on the operating conditions at your site and your precision requirements. If the precision requirements aren’t high and the density remains relatively stable, a single-flange design will suffice; an electrostrictive sensor can also be used in such cases. If you have the money, go for a radar level gauge; it might seem like a waste. Since you already have a magnetic flap level gauge and it’s working fine, you could also buy a better reed switch – they’re inexpensive.
What is the relationship between submersible level gauges and reed switches?
The measurement range is from 1 to 3 meters, which is limited. If remote monitoring is not required, a magnetic flap level gauge can be used; it is accurate and reliable. If remote monitoring is needed, a guided wave radar level gauge can be installed, using a bypass pipe design that facilitates maintenance. For the level measurement of particularly important tanks, both types of level gauges can be installed simultaneously to improve reliability.

They’re more or less the same. It’s not continuous production here, but packing is still necessary. The precision doesn’t need to be very high, but reliability must be excellent in order to reduce the workload for manual labor. Another consideration is price – it doesn’t need to be too expensive; something that’s sufficient will do, as otherwise maintenance will become a hassle
Low precision requirements, good reliability, reasonable price; a magnetic flap with remote transmission is sufficient.
