With my alarm device, the probe works properly when tested individually; the voltage on the signal line at 24V is 23V, which is also within the normal range. However, no reading is displayed on the meter once the cable is connected, and the voltage in the circuit is only 3V. Finally, it was determined that the insulation of the wiring is not up to standard. I want to ask why the signal line works fine when used alone, but stops working once it is connected to the table. I know it’s caused by inadequate insulation, but I don’t understand why. Could you please explain?

If the cable is grounded or short-circuited, a normal circuit cannot be established; how can it function normally then? . .
There may be areas inside the table that are grounded. Is it damp or has water gotten in?
