These past few days, one of the company’s furnaces (which uses natural gas as a fuel and thermal oil as a heating medium) stopped operating for 1 hour due to certain reasons. After that, attempts to restart it were made 5 or 6 times, but none of these attempts were successful. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the ambient temperature near the Siemens QRA10M.C flame detector at the top of the furnace might have been too high, which prevented the flame detection process from working properly, resulting in continuous reports of flame detection failure. Later, the flame detector probe was removed and cooled for a few minutes; after it was reinstalled and the furnace was ignited, it worked on the first try. The flame detector was taken out and checked; it was very clean, with instrument air continuously flowing. I was wondering if this situation is possible, as I can’t analyze it for the time being due to other reasons. I would like to ask those who use the same model of flame detectors whether they have encountered similar situations
Ah, there’s no one here. The malfunction occurred again yesterday; it was concluded that the UV bulb in the flame detector probe had reached the end of its lifespan. After replacing the probe, everything is working properly now. I checked some relevant information later – under conditions of 50 degrees Celsius above zero, the average lifespan of a light bulb is 10,000 hours. It seems that since it was put into use, almost 10,000 hours have passed; it looks like I need to purchase some bulbs as spare parts.
