From the regional data, China's crude steel production increased from 46.8% of the world's share to 54%. Looking at apparent steel consumption (finished steel) data, between 2012 and 2022, the world's total finished steel consumption increased from 1.445 billion tons to 1.781 billion tons, a ten-year increase of 336 million tons.
