Date: 2018-04-11. Clicks: 11. On April 9, the VOCs treatment project at Zhejiang Energy Yili Xintian Coal Chemical Industry was put into construction. It is reported that this project is the first coal chemical VOCs treatment project in China to utilize regenerative thermal oxidation (RTO) technology, and it is also the largest RTO project of its kind in the country. Once completed, it will be able to treat over 700,000 cubic meters of waste gas per hour, thereby significantly reducing industrial odors. In accordance with **relevant environmental protection policies and the requirements set out in the ‘Emission Standards for Pollutants in the Petrochemical Industry’, Xintian Coal Chemical Industry must carry out comprehensive treatment of the exhaust gases generated by the low-temperature methanol washing unit; such exhaust gas emissions must meet **environmental protection standards. The relevant responsible person from Xintian Coal Chemical Industry led a technical team to conduct one year of research and investigations, as well as comparative analyses, before finally determining the technological approach for VOCs treatment and the selection of key equipment. It is understood that this technology represents the first industrial application of its kind in existing coal chemical projects; it is a new technology for which there is no existing engineering experience to draw upon. The VOCs treatment project at Zhejiang Energy Yili Xintian Coal Chemical Industry was constructed under the general contract of Zhejiang Tiandi Environmental Protection Technology Company, which is affiliated with Zhejiang Energy; the process technology was sourced from a Spanish company. This project plans to install two series of regenerative waste gas treatment systems. The total capacity for treating volatile organic compounds is approximately 720,000 cubic meters per hour, and the waste heat from the flue gases is utilized to generate superheated steam at 1.5 megapascals and 240 degrees Celsius. Each series of regenerative exhaust gas treatment systems includes a regenerative thermal oxidation system and a waste heat recovery system, among others. In addition to installing VOCs treatment systems at Xintian Coal Chemical, Zhejiang Tiandi Environmental Protection Company is also involved in other environmental protection projects such as concentrated brine crystallization, sludge drying, and ultra-low emissions control in thermal power plants. Among them, the concentrated brine crystallization project has been designated by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment as an environmental protection demonstration project for the treatment of high-salt wastewater and the comprehensive utilization of crystallized salts. The 2 billion cubic meters per year coal-to-natural gas production project operated by Zhejiang Energy Group in Yili, Xinjiang, is currently the largest such project in the world. Located in the Yili Xintian Coal Chemical Industry Park in Yining City, Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the project has a total investment of 16.09 billion yuan. It was jointly developed by Zhejiang Energy Group Co., Ltd. and Shandong Energy Xinwen Mining Group Co., Ltd. The project produces 2 billion cubic meters of pure natural gas per year, while also generating 31,000 tons of light hydrocarbons, 100,000 tons of heavy aromatics, 84,000 tons of polyhydrocarbons, 25,000 tons of polyphenols, and 116,000 tons of thiophene. The project can convert 6.77 million tons of coal into 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, which is sent to Zhejiang and accounts for about one-third of Zhejiang’s current natural gas consumption. On June 30, 2009, the coal-to-natural gas project in Yili, Xinjiang, with an annual production capacity of 2 billion cubic meters, as well as the associated Yili No. 4 Mine with an annual production capacity of 6 million tons, began construction. In June 2013, a strategic partner was brought in – Zhejiang Energy Group – and the two parties jointly invested to build a coal-to-natural gas project. In March 2017, Project A of the coal-to-natural gas facility began trial operation, setting a record for the shortest time required, stable performance, and successful completion on the first attempt ; In coordination with this, the Yili No. 4 Mine, designed with an annual production capacity of 6 million tons, began trial production simultaneously, and the first mining face underwent a successful joint trial operation. In June 2017, Series B of the coal-to-natural gas project was put into operation, running smoothly.
