A few days ago, the technical upgrade project for the desalinated water system in the synthesis workshop of Henan Jinkong Tianqing Coal Chemical Co., Ltd. was completed and is now operating stably. The problems associated with desalinated water have been resolved, meeting the entire plant’s demand for such water. The operating costs of the system have been reduced, resulting in significant savings in water production costs. It is understood that this desalination system has been in operation since its completion in 2014, and eight years have passed since then; its water production capacity can no longer reach the original design level of 600 m3/h. To restore the original production rate, it would be necessary to replace all the membranes, which would involve extremely high costs ; The equipment is aging, resulting in a high repair rate and increased maintenance costs ; Most valves on the main equipment have internal leaks, resulting in waste of primary water ; The increase in the conductivity of the produced water leads to a decrease in the water output of the mixed bed. This results in shorter operating periods for the mixed bed and a higher frequency of resin regeneration, thereby increasing the consumption of materials such as acids and alkalis used in demineralization ; The water quality parameters of the recovered condensate fluctuate frequently, resulting in the desalinated water supplied externally not meeting the design specifications and thus affecting its external supply. Due to the issues with the desalinated water, production volume has decreased, while the overall demand for desalinated water across the plant has increased. To meet the large demand for demineralized water from various units across the plant, and considering the current situation of demineralized water supply, it is necessary to carry out technical upgrades to the demineralized water system in order to ensure safe and stable production operations. The specific technical renovation plan is to construct another demineralized water system while the existing one continues to operate normally. After the new system becomes operational, the old system will be put on standby. Two advanced and efficient desalinated water treatment systems will be installed. Without altering the existing desalinated water system, a green and efficient desalination process will be employed; this involves making use of some of the existing equipment, while two additional advanced and efficient desalinated water treatment systems are built. Once the cation and anion exchange resins are in place, the automatic operation procedures will be adjusted – one system will operate manually while the other operates under automated control. The water production capacity will be 2×250 m3/h. The project was successfully completed after five months. The efficient desalination process helps conserve water at the source, thereby reducing the volume of wastewater discharged and the associated treatment costs. It enables enterprises to significantly cut their annual wastewater emissions, greatly alleviating the burden of achieving zero discharge in later stages ; Compared with conventional processes, the system produces water of higher quality, reduces resource consumption, and ensures the safe and stable operation of the system.
