Methanol Production Unit of Kaiyue Coal Chemical Company: Small Technical Upgrades Yield Significant Results Author/Source: Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum Yulin Coal Chemical Co., Ltd. Date: 2022-04-12 Views: 12 Recently, the oil mist fan in the lubricating oil tank of the propylene compressor in the methanol production unit of Kaiyue Coal Chemical Company was operating abnormally, which affected the safety conditions at the site. In response to this issue, the workshop took immediate action and promptly carried out the relevant maintenance and technical improvement work. It is reported that the oil mist fan is an important component of the compressor’s lubricating oil tank; its main function is to ensure the smooth return of the lubricating oil and to prevent the oil quality from being contaminated by the atmosphere. After the fan filter screen malfunctioned, the workshop encouraged its staff to come up with creative solutions. After numerous studies and analyses, it was decided to use hanging funnels to collect the oil contamination, which was then guided through rubber hoses to oil tanks on the ground. Once these tanks were full, the oil was sent to the company’s hazardous waste storage area. This approach significantly increased the recovery rate of lubricating oil, improved the working conditions on site, and was well received by everyone in the workshop. Small improvements have had a big impact. This technical upgrade has further improved the level of on-site management in this workshop, stimulated the enthusiasm of employees and cadres for innovation and efficiency improvement, and played a positive role in helping Kaiyue Coal Chemical Company to further advance its efforts to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
