On January 23, with clear skies and a gentle breeze, the MTO/OCC unit at the Zhong’an United coal chemical project looked brand new. Amidst festive music, the commissioning ceremony for this unit was officially held. The last of the main production units at the Zhong’an project completed its construction phase and moved on to the preparation stage for operation, marking the fact that all of the main production units of the Zhong’an United coal chemical project have now entered the commissioning phase. The MTO/OCC unit of Zhong’an United has been completed and handed over; all the main production units have entered the commissioning phase. Leaders of Zhong’an United, including Shi Huabiao, Li Taiqi, Wu Xuebin, Yin Shuliang, Zhou Lijin, Liang Yuewu, and Liu Hongxu, as well as the company’s advisor Zhou Yueming, Sun Lili, General Manager and Party Secretary of Sinopec Engineering Construction Co., Ltd., and Wang Cunting, General Manager and Deputy Party Secretary of Sinopec’s Tenth Construction Company, attended the handover ceremony. At the event, more than 300 representatives from various parties involved in the project were present to witness the handover process. Wu Xuebin presided over the handover ceremony. The Zhongan United MTO/OCC unit has been completed, and all the main production units have entered the commissioning phase. Shi Huabiao noted that the achievements made in the construction of the MTO/OCC unit were not easy to attain; they were the result of 21 months of relentless hard work by all those involved in the construction process. He expressed his gratitude to all parties involved for their diligent efforts in bringing this unit to completion. It is hoped that the construction party will continue to maintain a diligent work attitude, adhere to the strict requirements of the Zhongan project regarding safety and quality throughout the final stages of the project, properly organize all tasks before and after the Spring Festival, and actively cooperate with the production team to complete the commissioning of the facility, so as to ensure that the Zhongan project achieves its goal of having the entire production process up and running by June 30. The MTO/OCC unit is one of the core units of the Zhong’an United project, and it was constructed under the general contract of Sinopec Engineering Construction Co., Ltd. (SEI). The area occupied by this unit is 73,500 square meters. The core process of MTO (Methanol to Olefins) plants utilizes the patented technology \"High-Efficiency Methanol to Olefins Full Process (S-MTO)\", for which Sinopec holds independent intellectual property rights. This technology uses methanol as a raw material to produce low-carbon olefins such as ethylene and propylene, which in turn serve as raw materials for downstream polypropylene and polyethylene production facilities ； The low-value-added C4 and C5 olefins produced as by-products are converted into high-value-added ethylene and propylene products through an OCC (catalytic cracking) unit. The Zhong’an United MTO/OCC plant has been completed, and all of its main production units have entered the commissioning phase. Since the resumption of work on the MTO/OCC plant in May 2017, the project builders have focused on meeting the scheduled completion date, paying close attention to safety and quality standards. They worked hard even in bad weather, striving to overcome various difficulties and making every effort to advance the project construction, thus ensuring that the planned milestones were achieved. On May 20, 2018, the No. 2 propylene column of the MTO unit, with a total weight of 847 tons, was successfully lifted into place, marking the beginning of the installation of large-scale equipment for the MTO/OCC unit. Construction work accelerated, leading to a peak in efforts to build the unit and laying a solid foundation for achieving its completion. Since the end of 2018, in order to ensure the timely completion of the installation process, Zhongan United has accelerated the pace of construction. The Coal Chemical Project Management Department has actively coordinated with relevant departments within the company, engineering supervisors, general contractors, and project owners to carry out the \"three inspections and four determinations\" process for the MTO/OCC units. Issues were identified promptly and resolved, which ensured the successful completion of the installation and brought the construction of the main units for Zhongan United’s coal chemical project to a successful conclusion. The MTO/OCC plant of Zhong’an United has been completed, and all the main production units have entered the commissioning phase. Regarding Zhong’an United: Zhong’an United Coal Chemical Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as “Zhong’an United”) is a large-scale coal chemical integration company established in accordance with the strategic cooperation agreement between Anhui Province and Sinopec Group; it was founded through a joint venture between Sinopec and Wanbei Coal and Electricity. The company was established in December 2010 and has a coal chemical subsidiary as well as a coal mine subsidiary; it is currently in the construction phase and is located in Huainan City, Anhui Province. The MTO/OCC facility of Zhongan United has been completed, and all the main production units have entered the commissioning phase. The coal chemical integration project of Zhongan United is divided into two phases: Phase 1 involves the construction of a facility capable of producing 1.7 million tons of coal-based methanol, as well as converted olefins and derived products; it also includes the construction of a coal mine with an annual production capacity of 4 million tons. This facility will be able to produce 350,000 tons of linear low-density polyethylene and 350,000 tons of polypropylene per year. Operation is expected to begin by the end of 2015. Phase II of the project will construct a 600,000-ton/year coal-to-ethylene glycol plant, along with a supporting coal mine capable of producing 4 million tons per year.
