In the Yaogang Chemical Park, running from the coal storage and transportation center along the riverside road to the two circular coal depots at Shibao Mountain New Materials Branch, there lies a long steel structure – Sanning Company’s 5-kilometer-long coal transport conveyor system. It is also this conveyor belt system that has enabled the company to transport coal from the port to the warehouse within a \"half-hour economic zone\". However, while greatly improving production efficiency, it has also introduced a problem: the noise generated by the tube belt conveyor during operation affects the lives of residents living along its route. The company attached great importance to this issue; in the second half of 2021, it invested over a million yuan to fully enclose all the ducting machines along the residential areas with soundproof panels, achieving excellent noise reduction results. At the beginning of this year, the authorities took the initiative to carry out further improvements to that section, replacing the ordinary idlers with high-quality, silent idlers in order to completely eliminate the noise problem. From March 16 to 19, a total of 16 people from two units – the Railway Freight Coal Storage Center and the Maintenance Workshop – spent 4 days replacing 600 pipe belt idlers along the residential area roads, successfully completing the task. It is understood that the FJS-JY polymer-based non-metallic silent idler rollers being replaced are high-tech products; their cylinder surfaces feature a precisely engineered U-shaped ventilation groove, which significantly reduces friction with the belt and eliminates the noise generated by air resistance. At the same time, a lip-type sound-damping seal is used in conjunction with damping elements to suppress the noise generated by the rotating parts. Although the cost of these idler rollers is twice that of steel idler rollers, the noise they generate during operation is only one-tenth that of ordinary idler rollers, allowing the noise level of the belt conveyor to be easily reduced below the standards specified in GB12348-2018.
