On June 19, Hualu Technology successfully completed the digital delivery of the design for the purification and air separation units in Shaanxi Coal Yulin Chemical’s 1.8 million tons per year ethylene glycol production facility. The digital delivery of the basic design serves as both an acceptance of the interim design outcomes and a test of Hualu Technology’s overall capabilities in digital delivery, laying a solid foundation for improving the company’s ability to deliver projects in a coordinated manner. It is reported that this project was one of the first digital delivery projects undertaken by Hualu Technology for which a separate contract was signed for engineering digital delivery services, and it was officially launched in October 2019. The project utilizes EagleView’s SPE integrated solution, with 18 relevant professionals involved. Since resuming work on March 2, Hualu Technology’s Digital Engineering Center carried out digital pre-delivery testing for the Shaanxi Coal project, completing internal reviews at the beginning of April. It also exchanged ideas and discussed technical issues with various research institutes, gaining a great deal from these interactions. On April 11, the project successfully completed the cloud delivery of the preliminary design phase for the owner’s review; finally, on June 19, an approval response from the owner was received, marking the successful completion of the digital delivery tasks for the preliminary design phase of this project. Digital delivery is a complex, time-consuming, and meticulous task full of changes and challenges. Its significance lies not only in enabling owners to obtain engineering data and reuse its value, but it also plays a significant role in improving the design standards and quality in Hualu Technology’s engineering industry. As the detailed design progresses, digital delivery during this phase will also be carried out step by step, which imposes stricter requirements on integration quality and the refinement of factory object attributes. The Digital Engineering Center will provide comprehensive technical support for the digital delivery of this project, ensuring high-quality completion of such tasks and thus offering a solid foundation for the smooth progress of the project. The construction of the air separation unit supporting the first phase of the Shaanxi Coal Yulin Chemical’s demonstration project for the selective utilization of coal to produce new chemical materials, which involves an annual production capacity of 1.8 million tons of ethylene glycol, includes 3 sets of air separation equipment with an oxygen production capacity of 100,000 Nm3/h each. There is also a shared backup system of 5,000 m3 of liquid nitrogen, a backup system of 3,000 m3 of liquid oxygen, as well as a vaporization system. It supplies high-pressure and low-pressure oxygen products with a purity of ≥99.60% for the production of subsequent process units such as project gasification, medium-pressure and low-pressure nitrogen with a purity of ≥99.99%, as well as low-pressure nitrogen products with a purity of ≥99.60%. It also provides medium such as instrument air and plant air to support the plant’s utility systems. On May 13, 2019, Yulin Chemical Company of Shaanxi Coal Group signed a contract with Linde Engineering regarding the air separation unit required for the 1.8 million tons per year coal-to-ethylene glycol project; the contract covered the design, supply, and maintenance of 3 ultra-large-scale air separation units with a capacity of 100,000 Nm3/h each. The scope of the contract includes: the technical design of the plant process package and the basic engineering design, the detailed engineering design of the cryogenic tank system, the supply of complete sets of process equipment, as well as technical services such as installation and commissioning.
