A mobilization meeting for the 60-day construction and safety work related to the 1-million-ton methanol production upgrade project at China Coal Ordos Energy Chemical was held. On July 14, a mobilization meeting was held for the 60-day construction and safety tasks associated with this upgrade project, which is being carried out under the EPC contract by Saiding Engineering Company, and aims to enable annual methanol production of 1 million tons at China Coal Ordos Energy Chemical Co., Ltd. It is reported that the construction of the 1 million-ton methanol production project at China Coal Hubei Energy Chemical is currently in full swing. The plant structures and equipment foundations for the gasification and purification sections, which are under the general contracting of Saiding Company, have already been erected above ground level, and the project is taking shape. The holding of this mobilization meeting has further clarified the goals, helping to seize the opportunity to overcome challenges, complete the design work as soon as possible, take advantage of the current peak construction season, and accelerate the progress of the project. The project of China Coal Ordos Energy Chemical Co., Ltd., which aims to produce 2 million tons of synthetic ammonia and 3.5 million tons of urea per year, was constructed in two phases. By 2013, the first phase of the project, with an annual production capacity of 1 million tons of synthetic ammonia and 1.75 million tons of urea, had been completed and put into operation; meanwhile, some of the public facilities for the second phase as well as all the office and living facilities have been built. Based on the current market conditions and operational status, Phase II of the project plans to shift from producing synthetic ammonia and urea to manufacturing 1 million tons of methanol, thereby supplying MTO-grade methanol raw materials to the olefin plants of China Coal Mongolia Da Company. The project utilizes Zemach BGL fixed-bed slag gasification technology, purification technologies (low-temperature methanol washing + deep cryogenic methane separation), as well as advanced methanol synthesis technologies with low consumption and energy use, to build an MTO-grade methanol plant with an annual production capacity of 1 million tons. The main equipment for the project construction includes: the 1 million tons per year methanol production plant, which comprises an air separation unit, a gasification unit (for gasification, gas-water separation, phenol and ammonia recovery, coal gas compression, shift reaction and cooling, chemical deoxidation station, integrated tank area, gasification slag disposal, gasification flares, etc.), a purification unit (low-temperature methanol washing, flue gas combustion system RTO), a cryogenic separation unit (for methane cryogenic separation, LNG tank area), a sulfur recovery unit, and a methanol synthesis unit (for syngas compression, methanol synthesis, refrigeration processes, hydrogen recovery, intermediate methanol tank area, and finished methanol tank area).
