On March 3, Shaanxi Yueneng Chemical Materials Co., Ltd. held a review meeting regarding the basic design of the air separation unit. Lu Xuehua, the general manager of the company, Shen Yuncheng, the chief engineer, Wang Haishè, the deputy chief engineer, as well as the members of the various professional teams responsible for the review of the engineering foundation design, together with the project manager from Hualu Design Institute and the designers from various specialties, participated in the review via video conference. The meeting conducted a detailed review of 10 aspects related to the basic design of the air separation unit, including cost estimates, process design, instrumentation, electrical systems, equipment, and general layout. It also held discussions with Hualu Design Institute to clarify the 33 issues that were identified. At the same time, the company’s review team put forward optimization suggestions for the basic design of this device, providing a solid foundation for the smooth progress of its subsequent work. Finally, Lu Xuehua gave full approval to the comprehensive implementation of the foundation design reviews for various units, as well as to the review of the foundation design for this air separation unit, and put forward specific requirements. He demanded that all preliminary design reviews must be conducted in accordance with the unified regulations set by the General Institute; design institutes must adhere to the latest relevant standards and specifications. The various specialized teams responsible for the engineering preliminary design reviews within the company must take their responsibilities seriously and strive to minimize costs while optimizing the design process.
I myself worked in a petrochemical plant for a long time, where I was responsible for using and maintaining all the analyzers in the two analysis booths of the air separation unit – including chromatographs for measuring total hydrocarbons, near-infrared instruments for measuring carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide, as well as instruments for measuring trace amounts of oxygen and dew point.
