In the chemical industry, heat transfer oils are primarily used for distillation/evaporation, polymerization, condensation/demulsification, esterification, drying, melting, dehydrogenation, and forced heat retention, as well as for heat transfer in synthesis units for pesticides, intermediates, antioxidants, surfactants, fragrances, and other substances. Operation procedure for heating oil using heat transfer oil in the chemical industry. I. Preparations before heating the oil 1. All components of the heat transfer oil furnace have been inspected and found to be in good condition after maintenance. 2. After pressure testing, the heat transfer oil system was checked for leaks; all related systems have been purged and replaced. 3. After a joint inspection by the relevant personnel, it was confirmed that the conditions for oil boiling are met. II. Process of heating oil with heat transfer oil: 1. It goes through 5 stages: initial heating, dehydration, further heating, removal of light components (degassing), and additional heating. 2. First, start the oil injection pump to pump the heat transfer oil into the high-level expansion tank. Until the low liquid level alarm light in the expansion tank goes out. 3. The heat transfer oil circulation pump is used to circulate the heat transfer oil within the system in a cold state for at least 4 hours; once the heat transfer oil has fully circulated throughout the system, ignition can be carried out to start the heating process. III. Precautions for heating oil 1. The rate of temperature increase must be strictly controlled; significant adjustments to the temperature at the oil outlet are not allowed, in order to prevent the heat transfer oil from boiling violently and causing oil to overflow from the storage tank. 2. Pay attention to changes in oil inlet and outlet pressures. 3. The exhaust volume is highest when the heat transfer oil is heated to 90–120°C; when there is an excessive amount of gas, the oil temperature can be reduced slightly to prevent a mixture of heat transfer oil and water from being discharged through the exhaust pipe. 4. Keep proper records of oil boiling.
