Recently, Lanzhou Lanshi Heavy Equipment Co., Ltd. officially took on the task of developing reactors for a 600,000-ton/year ethanol production facility as part of Anhui Carbonxin Technology Co., Ltd.’s methanol comprehensive utilization project. The comprehensive utilization project for coke oven gas at Anhui Carbonxin Technology Co., Ltd. involves an investment of 3.4 billion yuan. It utilizes the DMTE technology developed by the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The methanol produced by Anhui Carbonxin Technology’s existing methanol production facility, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Huaibei Mining, is used as raw material. A powder gasification unit is employed to generate syngas, from which CO and H2 are separated. Through processes such as methanol dehydration, dimethyl ether carbonylation, and methyl acetate hydrogenation followed by separation, 600,000 tons of ethanol can be produced annually. Once completed, this facility will become the largest ethanol production plant in the world. The reactors for the ethanol production facility undertaken by Lanshi Heavy Equipment include 2 carbonylation reactors and 2 hydrogenation reactors; all of them are of the tubular type. The heat exchange tubes are made of S22053 duplex stainless steel, with a maximum diameter of 5.9 meters and a weight of nearly 700 tons. The 500,000-ton methanol and 600,000-ton ethanol production project undertaken by Anhui Carbonxin Technology Co., Ltd. is a large-scale investment; it represents a key initiative for Huaibei Mining Group to expand its coal chemical industry chain and develop the fine chemicals sector. The owner of the methanol comprehensive utilization project carried out by Anhui Carbonxin Technology Co., Ltd. is Huaibei Mining Co., Ltd. The project uses methanol from Anhui Carbonxin Technology Co., Ltd.’s existing methanol production facility as raw material; it is combined with a powder gasification unit to produce syngas, from which CO and H2 are separated. Through carbonylation and hydrogenation reactions, an ethanol production capacity of 600,000 tons per year is achieved. The plant facilities include the gasification unit, purification unit, gas separation unit, ethanol production unit, as well as various supporting utilities required to carry out the project’s processes. The ethanol production unit of this project utilizes the extended Zhongke DMTE technology; using methanol and syngas as raw materials, it goes through processes such as methanol dehydration, dimethyl ether carbonylation, methyl acetate hydrogenation, and separation, to produce 600,000 tons of ethanol per year. Once completed, it will become the world’s largest ethanol facility. Section 1: EPC general contracting for the ethanol complex project. The ethanol complex includes: a dimethyl ether synthesis unit, a carbonylation unit, hydrogenation and separation units, a compression unit, a heating furnace unit, a refrigeration station, the on-site cabinet room for the ethanol plant, a 35kV substation for the ethanol plant, a catalyst regeneration unit, tanks for initial rainwater and production wastewater, as well as fire protection facilities. Winner of the bid: Beijing Petrochemical Engineering Co., Ltd. Bid amount: 1,377,202,109 yuan. Section 2: EPC general contracting for the comprehensive utilization project of methanol, covering the works other than those in the ethanol complex. This includes: the entire plant’s process and utility systems, pipelines outside the plant, a gasification unit, a purification unit, gas separation units, liquid storage and transportation systems, as well as various auxiliary engineering works (other than those covered in Section 1).
