Progress on the construction of the 5-million-ton project for the clean and efficient utilization of coal in different grades at Xinjiang Tianyu Coal Chemical Industry. Recently, the gas tank T-2101B in the hydrogen production unit of the Tianyu Coal Chemical Industry project was successfully completed. Since the beginning of this year, a total of 8 construction companies, including 11 Chemical Construction, China State Construction Installation, and Hubei Huaxing, have been involved in the construction of the Tianyu Coal Chemical Project. The installation of the coke ovens, process equipment, and process pipelines in the coke production area has been completed; the electrical equipment in the new combined power distribution room has also been installed and calibrated, and the instrumentation equipment is now in the calibration phase. Construction scale and main components of the Tianyu Coal Chemical Industry Project: Phase 1 involves an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons of semi-coke, 300,000 tons of coal tar hydrogenation products, as well as related supporting facilities ； Phase II will have an annual production capacity of 1.5 million tons of semi-coke, along with related supporting facilities, thereby creating a circular economy industry that integrates the processes of raw coal – upgraded coal – coal tar – coke oven gas – hydrogen production – and coal tar hydrogenation. The project is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in 2018, after which all the semi-coke products will be supplied for the company’s calcium carbide production. Huang Weiguo, the chief engineer of Tianyu Coal Chemical Company, said that the overall construction of the semi-coke plant is nearly complete. The decoration work for the combined building’s power distribution room, control room, tool room, and cabinet room has been essentially finished, and at this stage, the ‘three inspections and four fixations’ process has begun. The foundation construction for 7 framework systems has been completed, including the pressure reduction tower framework of the hydrogenation unit, the distillation and stabilization framework, the refining reaction framework, the hydrocracking reaction framework, the high and low pressure separation framework, the cold high pressure separation framework, and the acidic water stripping framework. It is reported that at present, the 35kV substation for this project is ready to receive power, the intermediate handover for the hydrogen inspection room has been completed, and the intermediate handover for the distribution room of the lignite carbonization unit as well as the combined building has been completed. The 5 million tons per year clean and efficient comprehensive utilization project for coal classification at Tianyu Coal Chemical was launched in April 2013; however, the project had to be halted in February 2015 due to banks stopping loans and resulting financial difficulties. Through the efforts of the people of Tuoxun County and through the joint efforts of various parties, on January 24, 2017, Zhongtai Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Tianyu Coal Chemical. The scope of this cooperation included Tianyu Coal Chemical, Yutian Coal Industry Co., Ltd. in Tuoxun County, and Panji Coal Industry Co., Ltd. in Tuoxun County.
