The model review for the gasification unit of Anhui CarbonXin Technology’s coke oven gas comprehensive utilization project was successfully completed. From July 2nd to 3rd, the model review for 90% of the components of Donghua Technology’s coke oven gas comprehensive utilization project’s gasification unit (including the coal powder preparation and transportation section, the gasification section, and the black water treatment section) was successfully concluded. Those involved in the review included representatives from the project owner, Anhui CarbonXin Technology Co., Ltd.; the patent holder, Ningxia Shenyao Technology Co., Ltd.; and the EPC general contractor, Donghua Technology, including personnel responsible for processes, pipeline layout, powders, instrumentation, electrical systems, water supply and drainage, as well as structure. “ The gasification unit of the comprehensive utilization project for coke oven gas is the core component of the project; its design quality and schedule have a direct impact on the quality and progress of subsequent procurement, civil engineering work, equipment installation, and pipeline installation, and even determine whether the project can be commissioned successfully. For this project, the gasification unit represents the company’s first application of the ‘Shenning Furnace’ powder coal gasification technology, posing high design challenges and significant tasks. The project design phase coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic, which severely affected the time available for manufacturers to provide information as well as the working hours of designers, thereby increasing the difficulties in designing the gasification unit. The company’s design team took proactive action, adhering strictly to the project timeline by breaking down the schedule for the gasification unit into daily tasks. Through various methods such as remote work and video conferences, they ensured the successful holding of the review session for the gasification unit model. During the 30% model review in the early stage and the 60% model review in the intermediate stage, the company’s design team followed the principles of collaborative 3D modeling in Smart Plant 3D to include or import all elements such as structures, equipment, pipelines, electrical and instrumentation trays, lighting fixtures, instrument junction boxes, as well as water supply, drainage, and fire protection pipelines into the model. This approach resulted in a 3D model that closely matched the actual conditions on site, laying a solid foundation for the 90% model review. During the two-day model review meeting, the company’s design team provided detailed explanations regarding the design aspects of the core process piping for the gasification unit, the lifting of key equipment, on-site operation and maintenance, the modeling of final control valves, as well as on-site purging, pressure testing, and commissioning. The owners and patent holders expressed high approval and satisfaction with the design of the gasification unit, and commended the efforts and dedication of the design team. The successful completion of the gasification unit model review marks a full transition of the project from the design phase to the construction phase, with the focus of work shifting from the company to the site. During the meeting, the company discussed and finalized the startup interlocks for the gasification unit with the owner and patent holder, resulting in the final startup interlock scheme.
