Meeting Held to Discuss the Location Selection for Shanxi Liuyu’s 5-Million-Ton Specialized Coal Chemicals Industrial Cluster Project Author/Source: Huahua Network – Coal Chemicals Date: July 22, 2020 Clicks: 182 On July 17, a meeting was held to discuss the location selection for Shanxi Liuyu’s 5-Million-Ton Specialized Coal Chemicals Industrial Cluster Project. Led by Xu Zhanjun, the deputy secretary-general of the Shanxi Coking Industry Association and a senior engineer on the expert committee of the China Coking Industry Association, an expert team went to the site designated for the 5-million-ton special coal chemical industry cluster project. There, they obtained detailed information regarding the project planning as well as aspects such as land use, transportation, environment, power supply, and water supply. They also conducted on-site research to assess the feasibility of the project. The Liuyu 5 million tons special coal chemical industry cluster project is located in Liuyu Town, Liulin County, with a planned area of 253.98 hectares. The total estimated investment for this project is 20 billion yuan, and it includes 16 separate projects: a coking project with a capacity of 5 million tons, a project for the deep processing of 300,000 tons of tar, a project for producing 50,000 tons of needle coke, a carbon fiber production project with a capacity of 1,000 tons, a project to produce 200,000 tons of LNG from coke oven gas, a methanol production project with a capacity of 100,000 tons, a polyoxymethylene production project with a capacity of 40,000 tons, an ammonia synthesis project with a capacity of 150,000 tons, a hydrogen peroxide production project with a capacity of 240,000 tons, and a caprolactam production project with a capacity of 200,000 tons. Liulin County currently has a coking capacity of 3.98 million tons, which belongs to wholly-owned subsidiaries of Jinliu Company. Of this amount, Fulong Coal Chemical has a capacity of 820,000 tons, Haobo Coal and Coke Company has 960,000 tons, and Zhongyang Fuyu Coal Chemical Company has 2.2 million tons. In December 2018, Shanxi Liansheng Energy Investment Co., Ltd.’s 3.98 million-ton coking project was registered in Liulin County.
