Donghua Technology Successfully Secures Approval for a Major Science and Technology Project in Anhui Province Author/Source: Donghua Technology ECEC Date: 2021-10-20 Clicks: 234 Recently, the list of projects for the 2021 batch of major science and technology projects in Anhui Province was released, and the project submitted by Donghua Technology, titled “Research and Development as well as Demonstration of Synthetic Functional Bacterial Communities Capable of Efficiently Resisting and Degrading Organic Pollutants in Comprehensive Wastewater from Chemical Industrial Parks,” was approved. This project is the first major provincial or ministerial-level scientific and technological initiative in the field of environmental protection approved by the company. The successful approval of this project demonstrates that the company’s innovative approach to development in the environmental protection sector has been recognized, and it also provides valuable experience for the company to build an innovative research organization. This project is led by the company and carried out in collaboration with Professor Song Liyan’s team from the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering at Anhui University. Addressing the needs for the treatment of comprehensive wastewater in chemical industrial parks, it emphasizes independent innovation through mechanism research, technology development, and demonstration projects. The research is conducted around the core framework of \"construction of synthetic functional microbial communities – process optimization – engineering demonstration\", aiming to develop advanced technologies using the A/O biological system for reducing organic pollutants in such wastewater. As a result, an effective and easily scalable system for the biological transformation of organic pollutants through synthetic functional microbial communities has been developed. Subsequently, this project will be applied in the company’s East Sewage Phase II project. The implementation and demonstration of integrated technologies in this project not only help to improve the company’s research and development capabilities in comprehensive wastewater treatment technologies for chemical industrial parks, foster the training of skilled professionals within the company, and enhance its influence in the industry, but they also hold significant theoretical and practical value for implementing the relevant policies as well as Anhui Province’s water pollution control plans.
