Recently, Wang Xuyou, Party Secretary and Chairman of Shandong Energy Group’s Xinjiang Energy Chemicals Company, along with You Jiaqiang, Deputy Party Secretary and Managing Director, met with Bian Ming, Party Committee member and Deputy General Manager of China Tianchen Engineering Co., Ltd., as well as Lin Binbin, Chief Engineer. The two sides had a thorough exchange on the overall concept for the construction of the 800,000-ton-per-year coal-to-olefins project at Wucaiwan in Zhundong, operated by Xinjiang Shanneng Chemical Co., Ltd., as well as the future vision and planning objectives. Wang Xuyou said that after the industrial integration in the Xinjiang region by Shandong Energy Group, engineering projects have entered a phase of rapid development. He expressed his sincere gratitude to Tianchen Company for its strong support during the planning of coal-to-olefins projects. He hoped that in the future the two parties would enhance communication further, deepen cooperation actively, and work together to promote high-quality development. Xinjiang Shanneng Chemical Co., Ltd. has invested 19.8 billion yuan in the 800,000-ton/year coal-to-olefins project in Wucaiwan, Zhundong. The construction site is located on the west side of Shenqi Road, at the entrance of Open-pit Mine No. 4 in the Huoshao Mountain Industrial Park, within the Wucaiwan mining area of the Zhundong Economic and Technological Development Zone in Xinjiang. The project uses coal from the Wucaiwan No. 4 open-pit mine as raw material, and produces MTo-grade methanol (an intermediate product) through coal gasification under pressure, shift reaction and heat recovery, low-temperature methanol washing, and methanol synthesis; this MTo-grade methanol is then processed via MTo separation and olefin separation to obtain polymer-grade ethylene and polymer-grade propylene monomers; ethylene is polymerized to produce polyethylene products, while propylene is polymerized to produce polypropylene products. The main process units of the project include an air separation unit, a gasification unit, a purification unit, a methanol unit, a sulfur recovery unit, an MTo unit (including butane recycle), an olefin separation unit, a polyethylene plant, and a polypropylene plant. The project is integrated with and constructed simultaneously with the Colorful Bay No. 4 open-pit mine. Tianchen Engineering Company is responsible for the overall design of this project.
