On July 2, the trial operation of the first domestically produced coal slurry feed pump used in coal-to-oil production at **Energy Group’s Chemical Company** was successfully carried out under coal slurry feeding conditions, marking the completion of all testing procedures for this pump and its official commissioning for use in production. The high-pressure oil-coal slurry feed pump is one of the key devices in the direct coal liquefaction process of chemical companies. Its function is to raise the pressure of the oil-coal slurry so that it can be fed into the slurry heating furnace; there, it mixes with hydrogen and then enters the coal liquefaction reactor where a hydrogenation reaction takes place to produce liquefied oil. The original feed pumps in the coal liquefaction plant were six five-plunger high-pressure reciprocating pumps imported from abroad; any failure of these pumps during normal operation would directly affect the plant’s capacity. The research project on domestically produced coal slurry feed pumps was officially launched in 2017, with on-site construction beginning in April 2019. Thanks to the diligent efforts of the project team, the challenges associated with carrying out both production activities and construction simultaneously were overcome, and the project was completed successfully. On May 6, a trial run was carried out successfully, during which relevant data was collected; at the same time, improvements were made to address the issues identified during the trial run. During this test run using oil-coal slurry as the medium, the relevant personnel followed the established plan strictly. By comparing the operation under the conditions of the two different media, they adjusted various parameters gradually, carefully documented any issues that arose, and successfully completed the test run with oil-coal slurry. Additionally, thorough verification and performance testing were carried out on the modified domestic feed pumps. The results show that the commissioning of the domestically produced coal slurry feed pump under normal medium conditions was a complete success. The trial operation of the company’s first domestically produced coal slurry feed pump under oil-coal slurry conditions was completed successfully, providing a reliable reference for the localization of key equipment as well as the adjustment of coal liquefaction processes in secondary and tertiary plants.
